it’s back
Wednesday, December 16th, 2009The weekend at the Atomic Holiday Bazaar was everything I had hoped for. Cool people, lots of sales and the weird wonderful experience of seeing people of all walks of life react to my work. It’s kind of awesome when you see people smiling or laughing or grabbing their friend to snicker together at one of the GingerDead cards. It never fails to surprise and delight me to see this. Anyway, it seemed like the best way to thank people who gave me their laughter or encouragement is to create something new so this week’s comic is going to be the next addition to the GingerDead cards.
On the flip side of the coin is the baby doll head pendants I launched. They get such a mixed reaction. Some people find them sad, some wistful, many think they are adorable and quite a few were downright scared of them! I find baby dolls in general pretty creepy but I didn’t think mine were too bad. I had tried to make them creepier in fact, but I they ended up more on the sweet, albeit emo side, in my opinion. I don’t think I’ve shown you guys any photos of them yet so here you go:

Here’s a few shots of my table. This is the first show I finally had a decent layout for. It’s still not particularly fancy or awesome, but it looked pretty good.

I don’t think you’ve seen these yet either…

I had to take down the art jewelry portion of my etsy store in order to take everything with me to the show. Tomorrow I’ll begin putting back whatever didn’t sell as well as adding tons more. It will be an ongoing process. If there is something you are after or wanted and now appears to be unavailable, just message me.
This weekend I’ll be at ArtPool on Saturday for their handmade holiday art and vintage fair outside. It’s free and will have lots of cool handmade stuff. I’m happy to say I’m nearly done with all my holiday shopping and I haven’t stepped one foot in a mall. I’m buying handmade as much as possible and ending up with interesting one of a kind beautifully crafted gifts.
ArtPool is located on 1st Ave North just off 9th Street in downtown St. Pete. More details here: ArtPoolRules.com
Oh yeah, before I go check out this band that played at Atomic – Viva Le Vox. they have this New Orleans dirge meets punk thing going on that is pretty badass. They have an accordion player. What more could you want?
And finally, a big fat all caps THANK YOU to Adrien Lucas for throwing a killer event for the stranger, edgier, sexier and way more fun side of crafts. See you next year!
See you next week…

you get better and better and better. i love your comic, your cards, your jewelry. and surely you did’t think you could have a happy life without offending *someone*???
a new tradition-
rolling-headed santas sit
in department stores
sharing a stale beer.
sitting on santa’s great lap
scares little children.
looking like christmas:
button-eyed cats, baby heads
elves with sharp needles.
Merry Christmas and Happy Yule, Calan.

Those baby doll pendents are way cool. I love those faces. I doubt i could get away with wearing one but it won’t stop me from buying it all the same.
I’m glad everything went well.
It’s a new regime!
You see the good list is out,
the jolly is done.
The elves are supreme
and now time for the naughty
to have all the fun.
I won’t be near my computer next week, sigh, so i will wish you a merry Christmas now. Take care and have a great new year.
