Repurpose it
Wednesday, July 8th, 2009As I write this, it is Tuesday night and my mom’s birthday. I’m at her place now and she’s waiting for me to come watch the Dark Knight on cable. It’s already started so I should make this quick.
This week’s comic is inspired by the original king of repurposing – the hermit crab. If he can’t find a suitable shell, he’ll grab whatever is laying around and make it his home. He was green before it was hip. Here’s something even cooler than a baby doll head house: a coffin couch! Made from briefly used coffins that were deemed slightly flawed before buriel, the coffins were rescued from being tossed out and fashioned into these totally gorgeous vampire-chic sofas. You have to check out the website, photo gallery, etc. at CoffinCouches.com. If wish I could afford one. They are to die for!

Jewelry update:
Small selection of rings, pendants and bracelets now available at Cheries, St. Pete. Saturday night I’ll be showing (and selling) a collection at the ArtPool TRAshion show. Starting tomorrow I’ll be putting a few select pieces up in my etsy store starting with an Octopus bracelet.
My mom adores the moon-like faces I do, so I made her a pendent necklace and button cover. She thinks button covers are the neatest things ever and after seeing Jim sport the robot ones with cuff links the other night, I’m starting to agree.
Mom’s moon faced set:

Hey, love your work!! Though this is the first that’s inspired me to comment! I like the way it looks disturbing and surreal at first glance, but when you realise what you’re looking at it transforms into a mundane, but beautiful vignette of a moment in this hermit crabs life. He looks so happy in there!
Thank you, and keep up the good work!!
