ford - i know what you mean, but the thing is you're really not going to know for sure either way 'til your dead. i mean people can have faith and 'know' it's all rainbows or unicorns or whatever, but only the dead know for certain, so why sweat it. if you can choose a belief on the afterlife that gets you through life than go for it, but if you find you are only sure of one thing and that thing is the fact you just don't know and this worries you, well i'd recommend not thinking about it one way or another.

life really is for the living. worrying about death is only going to make your life more uncomfortable and it wont change death one bit. if there is nothing than at least you made the most of life. if there is an afterlife than you don't want to get there with all your friends laughing at you for wasting too much of you life worrying about death which turns out is one great big rockin' party. hehe. something like that.

i lean towards the living more than one life belief. that sorta freaked me out for a while. like, what? i'm going to have to go through this crap all over again? hehe. i've just had a lot of odd experiences that made me think i've been with people, experienced things, etc. in another life so it's not a religious thing but just a personal hunch. all said and done though, i haven't a clue. weeeee!

just going to focus on filling my life with love and art and adventure and such. sounds like you are having some awesome experiences living abroad. i've done it a few times ( not china though ) and think it's about the best thing one can do. really makes you see how big the world is and how different and the same we are.

thanks for the thoughtful comments and haiku. wishing you peace of mind and happiness and stuff!

I ALMOST FORGOT
happy chinese new year to everyone. (so loud at night here)
during my year here, ive learned that people are psychotic on new years.
on new years night, millions of people, that i could see from the top of my building i visited, setting off store bought fireworks, as far as the eye could see, all by themselves, no control, no sound but explosions.

fireworks are illegal,
but i set off nigh eighty
just today. who cares.

this is actually really suprising, that this is this weeks comic.
ive been thinking about death alot lately.

and not about dying, which i nearly have so im like, whatever, but what happens afterdeath.
and im just gonna say im really afraid everything just shuts off after death, lik closing a book, or putting out a candle. sure people remember it, but its not there anymore.
what if my soul isnt carried on, or my mind cant think about myself being dead? and especially, if everybody else can, and it only happens to me...

so man, shit, its scary to think of that. i want to expierence death, being taken to another world, accompanied by my friends and idols gone as well, but im afraid i wont

death could be something
if it was a guarantee
lets not dwell on it.

and thats my motto for now.

Many words to say
Not knowing how to express
The joy I find here.

This is my first haiku ever. Written for you and because of you, Calan.
I've always had an interest in haiku, but never really understood the concept until I found Gingerdead. The first page I found had the meter and an example, it just all click. An "Aha" moment.
I hardly ever click banner ads, but as I was reading "Lizzy", a flash comic, I seen Gingerdead. I had an uncontrollable urge to click. I'm so very glad I did.
It took me a couple of days to catch up with the comic. Now I need to catch up on the comments. You have great commentors/fans/friends. You have another loyal reader.

Hi. Been lurking and reading your comic for about six months now. I love them, especially this one. Yeah to eternal rest & naps & all that's needed here is a book or two to wile away the afterlife.
