warning label (haiku)
Wednesday, July 30th, 2008About a week and a half to go to Convergence 14. C-14 is a big gothic convention that will be in Ybor City, Tampa, FL this year. Lucky for me that happens to be local! GingerDead and Friends will have a table there where you can purchase prints, greeting cards and other goodies. I’m taking the ‘and friends’ part literally and will have Jim Morey with me, an amazing musician who also happens to make some delicious chainmaille jewelry. His site design and many or the photos were done by yours truly, btw, so take a peek. Be sure to hit the launch player button to hear some of his tunes – Anything for Adventure is one of my faves.
I’ve been checking out the bands that will be performing at C-14 and am digging Audra (listening to What Your Eyes Had right now). They list Joy Division as an influence and I can definitely hear that and certainly don’t object. Voltaire will also be there. He wears a lot of hats…performer, comic creator, musician, etc. Speaking of which, he’s wearing a killer hat on his current MySpace page. Oooh, I really dig his look there! Voltaire’s music has a campy, spooky, cabaret vibe that I think would be even more fun live. Synthetic Dream Foundation sounds great and they are from Tampa. How did I not here of them before?! Anyway, that’s just a few of the bands that will be there, you can hit the site up for the full list of C-14 Goth Music.
You know, I’ve been so busy scrambling to prepare for this convention, that I really haven’t been excited about it until this very minute. So…. hOO!
Hope to see you there…

It would be so cool if people came with warning labels like that.
Hm, what would mine say?
“incorrigible punster–
do not incorrige”

been a little while since i read here – just caught up
oh and yeah, i agree that more people should come with warning labels. unfortunately i can’t come up with a good one for me off the top of my head. i like the incorrigibility, though.

Good luck at the con…
… it must be terrible having to live somewhere where you don’t know every local band… just terrible…

everyone comes with labels. businessmen, goth,
astronauts, africans, vegetarians, obsessive/cumpulsive,
male, skank, musician, barbie, introvert, inmate,
scholar, toddler etc. we already know the warning labels.
(mine is “mostly impossible.”)
instead of warning labels, maybe we should label
our exceptions- what makes us unique.
(mine would still be “mostly impossible.”)

Hehe Ven continues to be my favorite. Her sheer joy of choking a baby cracks me up.
I checked out the bands you listed except Joy Division. Already knew them but the others i had never heard of. Wow, Voltaire is right up my alley. Loved every song on that page. Got some new cd’s to buy
. I also enjoyed Synthetic Dream Foundation. They are very good. Couldn’t quite get into Audra though i did enjoy “Your So Pretty”. The lyrics are amusing. Thanks for listing those links. Hope you have a blast at C-14.
