many thanks

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

I hope you all had a great holiday.  I’m doing much better but due to being a bad kitty and running around outside, I sort of relapsed over the last few days.  No worries, I just had to give in to lounging around doing nothing.  I did manage to see Sweeney Todd which despite my loathing of musicals, I really enjoyed.

Today’s comic is a different because it was done in bed with a graphite pencil thingy instead of in photoshop. The saying came to my fever addled brain when I was thinking of a dear friend who has been keeping me smiling through crappy times.  The saying made me laugh and I decided to make him a thank you card of sorts.  I thought I’d share it with you guys rather than try to churn out a comic.  Hope you enjoy. 🙂

I should be back to my usual tricks next week.  Ciao for now.

even racked with illness, your skills with the charcoal far outstrip mine. unfair. how do you keep it from getting all smudged?

anyway, i hope you feel better soon calan. i know how much it sucks to be sick for a holiday.

oh, ps. you should have something in your email from me, but i’m not sure if it went through.

J – It came through and rocked my world! Many thanks!! Wil share with everyone on a new fan art section which I feel finally ready to put up this coming month.

This was actually done with a graphite pencil thingy that you can apply a wash to. So it was done with the pencil and a damp brush. I’ve never used one of those before so I was just experimenting. I love charcoal and pastels though..particularly smudging/blending with my fingers and getting dirty. That’s what you miss out on when you work digitally.

I’m feeling way better btw. Thanks for all the well wishes. I’ll definitely have a strip for you guys this week. I’m 80 percent done with it already. 🙂

    “I love you more than
    frozen peas and stds?”
    That’s not a haiku….

…nice change of pace though. Consistency being the something-or-other of small minds, and all that. I’m too lazy to look up the exact quote. No, wait, I’m too tired from the holiday madness. Yeah, that’s it. Not lazy – tired.

  11. Seraphine Says:

Happy New Year, Calan (and friends).

  12. calan Says:

justme – girl can’t live by haikus alone!

sera and everyone – happy new year 🙂
