hammer time
Wednesday, August 1st, 2007Does anyone recall the dopey song in the comic? I was washing dishes and for some reason, it came to mind. I remember as a child having to sing it in school and I hating it’s redundancy. I guess the torture was worth it because it’s responsible for today’s comic. The thought of Vendetta on a hammer spree singing it made me giggle.
I remember also singing this song about the Titanic sinking. It was so cheerful. The most upbeat part of the song was this line: ” Husbands and wives…Little Children lost their Lives!” WTF? People wonder why I’m a little dark sometimes. I blame primary school.
So, instead of the usual ad plugging my cafe press store where you can buy GingerDead and Friends t-shirts, buttons, bumper stickers, etc., I’m putting a picture of Chris Hallbeck’s first Book of Biff book which you can pre-order now. I love the Book of Biff and Chris is an outstanding human being. He’s self publishing and will need to reach a pre-order goal to cover printing. So, if your a Biff fan or want to do some early holiday shopping, stop by and pre-order one. You can even get some cool sketch versions right now, so when Chris is famous you can sell it on ebay and retire. I don’t think you’ll have to wait long either.
That’s all for now. Have a great week and I’ll see you next Wednesday.

I remember having to sing songs in elementary school, I actually kind of miss that.

ahh, i see your retaining the extra detail from last week, very nice.
and it’s nice to see vendetta getting abit of the love. she’s something of a neglected character i think. might be why she acts out.

andrew you might be on to something. maybe if at our jobs we had sing-along breaks the world would be a better place. or not.
J you’re a doll. i’d like to unscrew your head and pull out your arms. i say that with affection, i promise. seriously, thanks for noticing the lil things. you’re right about vendetta. this comic isn’t something i plotted out, i really wait for the characters to reveal themselves. ven is starting to speak to me a bit more lately so perhaps we’ll see more of her. for me writing this comic is just like a relationship where you know a person only on the surface at first and in time you get inside their head and understand how they tick.

hammer lovers know
every problem can be solved
with a few swift blows
I think that’s the happiest I’ve ever seen Vendetta. I’m with J – it warms my heart to see her like that.

you guys are killing me. “aww look how happy ven is.” she is on an evil hammer rampage and you want to cuddle her. lol. that’s great.

When I was in kindergarten, we sang a song that I loved called “Old Colony Times.”

Check out that last verse. No good folk song is without a good punishment. Probably the German influence there.

Happy little Vendetta on a hammer spree. We must donate plenty of nails. ^_^

Horay for the German influence in the cartoon. Being German rules LOL. My heart is warming up just thinking about how happy she is but what about poor Ginger and the cat… Or was I the only person to notice that she just nailed a cat to a tree branch by its tail.

dan: thanks for sharing that charming lil song.
coolio – welcome. ill will press rox btw.
bill – i think everone’s oblivious to the suffering she’s caused. it’s her charming smile perhaps that blinds them.

oh ok well as long as she’s happy I guess that everything is ok in today’s society almost everyone gets a kick out of someone else’s pain I just watched some random guy in town get punted in that area and thought it was the funniest thing I’d seen all day
August 1st, 2007 at 7:44 pm
YESS!!!! finally another Vendetta one. I do adore her blissful evil lol. Very funny. I love the randomness of the window. “Lets see nail Gatsby’s tail to the tree? Check! Nail brothers head to the wall? Check! Oh and why the hell not. Smash the window? Check!” haha love it. I wonder what i would do if i ever gave in to those little voices we all get in our heads from time to time? Probably for the best that i never find out hehe.

Poor cat,
but knowing vendetta, the cat got away with it kinda easely…
If I had an axe. (8)(8)
(8)(8)I’d chop in the morning,
I’d chop in the evening. (8)(8)
(8)(8)All over this land.
August 2nd, 2007 at 1:38 am
he did get away easy. ven had more gruesome plans but i couldn’t let her go through with it. i <3 kitties.
August 2nd, 2007 at 3:15 am
i don’t know, my thoughts were along the line of those Bill was having earlier. yes i think it’s great that Vendetta is so very happy, however the fact that her joy is directly related to pain she causes to poor GingerDead does make me very sad
so yay for Vendetta’s happiness, but boo for Ginger’s pain. poor poor Ginger
i’ll try to think up a haiku to post later too

Hey! Thanks for the plug! How very kind of you.

You have brought me back to that special place where songs such as that are sung all day long. Surprisingly that place does not just exist in my head. I have no links for you but try to find the songs “Hirojirum” (its not Japanese) and “She sat in her hammock.” Two songs where the bad guy gets just what he deserves.

Seems to me that most children’s songs, like nursery rhymes, are pretty dark. ‘Ring-a-ring of roses’… it’s about the black death. ‘London Bridge is falling down’… self explanatory, but it’s ‘Jack and Jill’ that creeps me out.

“If I had a hammer” is an old Pete Seeger song. The wikipedia entry is fairly accurate.
