sweet and savory
Wednesday, July 25th, 2007Last week I gave you extra color and you were naughty. So this week, you get none!
The truth is i just really liked this in black and white and coloring it felt weird and wrong so I stopped. The great thing about a webcomic, at least for me, is the freedom to experiment. I’m not doing this in hopes to be syndicated in a newspaper (can you imagine?!), so i have no need to follow set formulas with layout, style, etc. It’s nice. I would like to put out a book one day but I haven’t decided if it will be from the existing strips or something different altogether involving the characters. Anyway, I know the comic looks and reads a bit different this week. I’m not planning on permanently changing it so if you hate it don’t bother to send me any angry emails.
I haven’t said anything mushy for a while, so let me do so now. Your haikus rock and make me smile, so does taking the time to leave a comment letting me know you dig the comic. When you post a link to this site on a forum or on your website/blahg, I appreciate it. I try to track that kind of thing and send a note of thanks when I can, but it’s not always possible. Digging or Stumbling or Blinking or whatever is a big help. When you buy t-shirts or bumper stickers, it thrills me in unmentionable ways. So, for all you do, this hugs for you.
(Runs away before you can pelt me with rocks and garbage.)

a gift from the heart
means so much more when made with
a bit of yourself
I love that GingerDead seems to get her, but sometimes I wonder if he really, truly got her if he wouldn’t run away screaming.

i actually kind of this style seems to fit with more your writing/narrative than the regular one, most likely because of that extra level of detail. i wonder how some manner of hybrid would look.
keep up the awesome work calan.

Aww, Calan, you get no hate from me. Wednesday is my favorite day of the week, because I know you’ll have a new comic to warm my day. You keep getting better and better, so don’t stop experimenting.

There is such an unknown charm from your comics, that’s why I can see wednesdays as a bright day for me while I sit tirelessly working in my stuffy little office. The angle that you pitch is unique and that is why your comics have caught my eye. I would suggest making them for more than just one day a week but that’s like trying to make christmas more than once a year.

A pastry eating a pastry, hehe struck me as funny. But seriously good work. Love the fruit in bed. Very sweet theme. Made me go awwww. I would never throw garbage at someone. Notice i say nothing about rocks hehe. You dont deserve either though so *hug*.

thanks serephine
that is one sexay haiku!
bill – i wish i could update more often..maybe in the future. i’m ridiculously slow so one comic ends up taking me a bunch of hours and sometimes it’s spread out over a few days. unfortunately, i have other stuff to do too. i really respect people that update daily plus manage families and jobs. anyway, thanks so so much for your comment. i should save it for those, “i suck. why do i bother?” days.
avshar – cannibalism is no laughing matter! *giggles*

Ooooooh. I like this. It has a cool woodcut/Edward Gorey feel to it. It really fits the comic.

Well i wouldnt have bothered making a comment for this but i couldnt find an email address on this page. I FINALLY remembered to put up a banner on my myspace and even wrote my first blog about webcomics in general. Nothing big just put yours and a few others’ links in there for others to find. That was before i found the banner so now i have you on there twice lol.

Well, I thought that last week’s coloring fit into the theme of ice cream on hot summer nights… so it’s ok if youi don’t use that much color anymore…

That’s no problem Calan everyone deserves credit when they do something that’s actually good, something that I myself do not get very often. But, none the less, you are welcome. Email me some time if you ever want to talk more. It seems like you actually do have a rather hard time juggling everything in your life. I’m fresh out of college so I know exactly what you mean.
Keep up the astonishingly good work.
