ultraviolent rays
Wednesday, July 4th, 2007I’m back! HooOOo! It was nice to take a week to do nothing much but bum around with friends. Besides mojitos and beach frolicking, I got over to the Dali Museum. It’s not far from my place which is precisely why I end up taking for granted the fact that it’s there. When I lived in New York I never went to the Empire State building or Statue of Liberty until a friend came to visit from the UK. That’s just how it works I guess.
Anyway, it’s not a great big museum or anything, but it’s definitely worth checking out. I actually enjoyed the last room the best where they had popcorn and soda and cartoons playing.
In this room they also had Dali’s “Biblia Sacra” on exhibit. This is a large collection of illustrations from a latin bible that a friend of Dali’s commissioned. I love this collection. The style is just looser to me and more expressionist than the surrealism we associate Dali with. I dont know. I just like it. It’s mostly watercolor, ink, pastel and gouche. Why am i trying to describe it when i can just show you. Thanks internet!
That’s all for now. Remember to be wary of that beautiful sunshine. It will kill you!
Oh, and those in the U.S. celebrating Independence Day, try not to blow off any fingers or shoot anyone’s eye out. See you next week!
Thanks again to Chris Hallbeck of The Book of Biff for the kickin’ guest comic last week!

Lo! For insects have but three body segments!
July 10th, 2007 at 1:31 am
yeah but the middle one is made of a few ‘lumps’ on ants. i actually did look at a few images beforehand but in the end just drew him how i wanted. if it makes you feel better just view the section under his head as one segment comprised of two bumps. or you could just get crazy and not give a damn. hehe

Amusing… except the last panel with the hole burned in the insect was superfluous.
