Gatsby, the cat introduced in today’s strip is based on a cat I once had. If he could speak I’m certain it would have been in a smarmy manner. He was the only kitty I have ever had that truly delighted in torturing me. Some nights I still see his glowing green eyes watching me fall asleep, waiting to pounce or knock a glass of water to the floor as soon as I am sedated. We had a lot of screaming chases through the house at 4 am. Damn, I miss the little bastard.

I also had a cat like this… His name was Rigby, and he was truly evil.. Same green eyes watching me as I fell asleep so he could knock my water glass over on me, then attack blank walls for the next hour, followed my waking me up by knawing on my toes… I have many scars from him, and still have nightmares about him attacking me.
He eventually killed himself though by jumping off the balcony to catch a bird… we live on the 14th floor…
